VIWMA Hosts Public Meetings on Grant Program

The VI Waste Management Authority invites the public to a series of meetings to introduce the authority’s 2011 Community Enrichment Grant (CEG) Program. The VIWMA has designated $50,000 for each island for this year’s grants under the CEG Program, which is to provide opportunities for youth groups, schools, non-profit and community and civic groups to take an active role in the improvement of the environment of the Virgin Islands by utilizing these funds for environmental improvement programs.

These projects would encourage beautification, resource recovery (including recycling and composting), litter abatement, public education, planting of trees and shrubs, clean-ups and other similar projects.
The public meetings will be held as follows:
St. John: 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, at Julius Sprauve School
St. Croix: 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, at VIWMA’s Williams Delight Office
St. Thomas: 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, at Charlotte Amalie High School auditorium (venue was changed)
Applications are available now at all VIWMA offices and will be accepted until Friday, July 1.
