Hovensa Employees Give Blood at Annual Drive

The Medical Unit of Hovensa LLC will conduct a blood drive on Wednesday, May 25, for employees of Hovensa and employees of contractors that provide services at Hovensa. The staff of the unit will be assisted by student nurses from the LPN program at CTEC, staff from The St. Croix Community Blood Bank, and members of the community. In the last blood drive, employees gave a total of 116 pints of blood to refill depleted supplies at the blood bank.
The company’s chief medical consultant, Dr. Cora Christian, said that many workers at the refinery look forward to the blood drive as a means of supporting the community with this vital gift of life. In fact, Hovensa has held 32 blood drives since 1992, collecting over 2350 pints of blood. Dr. Christian said that the drives have become a commendable tradition of generosity by the men and women who work in the refinery, and their spouses.
