Brief: Parking Fees Back at Christiansted Government Lot

The V.I. Government parking lot at the corner of Strand and King Cross streets in Christiansted will resume charging for parking Monday, the V.I. Public Works Department announced this week.

Regular fees will be 75 cents for the first hour and $1 for each hour thereafter. All day parking fees are $5. Monthly parking fees are $40.

“Public Works has renovated the existing parking lot facilities and installed new parking equipment," Public Works Commissioner Darryl Smalls said in a statement. "The implementation of parking fees is necessary for the DPW to generate revenues to not only defray operational cost but also to generate funding that will enable for the future development and expansion of parking opportunities in downtown Christiansted.”
