Sarah Mc.Bean Bastian, also known as "Mama," of Estate Campo Rico died on March 25, at her residence. She was 92 years old.
She is survived by her companion, Joseph Bruce; daughter, Mable Simmonds Brady; adopted daughter, Carlotta Moorehead; son, Bernhardt Simmonds; adopted sons: Charles Farrell and Leroy Simmonds Sr.; grandchildren: David, Allan Jr., Kenneth and Raymond Brady, Virginia, Bernhardt Jr., Darwin, Janice, Leroy, Rudolph, Anthony, Shomahri, Shamahra, Laverne, Gustave Jr. and Dinelle Simmonds, Juanita Boneque, Carmen, Magda, Miguel Jr., Santos, Shelet, Shakima, Meriba, Adonay, Tishri, Maurice Jr., Maureek, Hugo Jr. and Maurice, Greenidge; and great-grandchildren too numerous to mention.
She is also survived by daughters-in-law: Christine Greenidge, Clifferena and Luetta Simmonds; sons-in-law: Allan Brady Sr. and Miguel A. Santos Sr.; brother, Robert McBean; nieces too numerous to mention; special nephews: Milton, Hugh Petersen and Herbert Hodge; great nieces and nephews too numerous to mention; special friends: Mary Roldan, Ethlyn Brown, Julia Panky, Alice Hewitt, the Bruce family, Carolyn Haywood, Milta Pena, Helen Miller, Gloria Gerard, Mary Daly and others too numerous to mention; special cousins and other relatives: Marleen Petersen, Emile Henderson III, Eugene McBean, the Nelson family and many others too numerous to mention.
A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Frederiksted. Interment will follow at the Frederiksted Cemetery.
