Folklife Festival Postponed

The annual Folklife Festival sponsored by V.I. National Park at Annaberg Plantation is postponed until a date to be determined.

“We’re hoping for the end of March,” park spokesman Paul Thomas said.

The Folklife Festival was scheduled for Feb. 24, 25 and 26.

Thomas said unforeseen circumstances with park staff involved with the event hampered the final planning of the event.

The Folklife Festival is held in conjunction with Black History Month. It features local crafts, storytelling and much more that showcase the island’s history. Students from across the territory, as well as visitors and residents, attend the event.

Before setting a new date, the park staff will confer with school officials in order to maximize attendance by students, Thomas said.

For more information on the upcoming Folklife Festival, call park ranger Denise Georges at 776-6201, extension 239.
