Shakir A. Richardson Dies at 26

Shakir A. Richardson, also known as “Shaki,” died on Jan. 6, at the age of 26.
He is survived by his mother, Yvette Donadelle; father, Elwyn Richardson Jr.; fiancée, Alena Brathwaite; daughters: Shakeja and Shalena Richardson; brothers Shomari Richardson, Bernell Herbert and Shamoi Richardson; sister, Shonna Richardson; grandmother, Catherine Richardson; special aunts: Patricia Battiste, Joyce Richardson Hansby, Celia Hodge and Dahlia Hendricks; and aunts: Janicia Burnett, Florencia Simeon, Alicia Smalls, Alexis Newjhr, Norida Phipps, Yvonne Hughes, Elba, Urica and Erica Richardson, Ritza and Denise Donadelle.
He is also survived by aunt-in-law, Cathy Benjamin; special uncles: Alvin Battiste Sr., Cornel Donadelle, Wayne Donadelle, Roy, Gary, Andre and Leslie Richardson; uncles: Ashley, Keith, Wilton and Astor Donadelle, Cody and Shawn Richardson, Alfonso Williams, David Arnold, Alen Taku VanPutten and Cleon Proco; great uncle, Francis Christian; nieces: Shamaya and Shameya Benjamin and Mo’nay Springette; nephew, Shamoi Benjamin; special cousins: Kemya Hansby, Keisha and Wayne Donadelle Jr., Cherrelle Battiste, A.J. Battiste Jr., Jemari Forde, Rashawn Stevens, Keith Nicholsen and Ali Battiste Jr.; adopted grandparents: Collins and Prudence Wesselhoft; adopted mother, Donna Wesselhoft; adopted father, Alvin Bratwaite; adopted brother, DeShawn Brooks; adopted sisters: Alika, Alya and Aleta Brathwaite; and godparents: Yvette and Fitzroy Williams, and Lorna Harris.
Other survivors include special friends: Zeb, Daryl “DJ” Lewis, Kwame “Pelican,” Kareem “Pogo” Thompson, Dan, Renald and Yankee, Shukoi PInney, Calvin, Garvey, The Barber Shop Massive, The Elysian Resort staff, especially Vikki and Tiffany, James “Chucky” Jones, Jamal Industrious, Akeem George, Tutu Valley and crew, Lime Street Massive, Kirk Thomas, Brian Roberts, Anthony “Pussman” Charles and Jackie; and many other friends and relatives too numerous to mention.
There will be a first viewing held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a second viewing held from 8-10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at Lutheran Church of the Reformation. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No. 2
The family asks that people attending the service wear festive colors as a sign of the celebration of his life.
