Jan. 3, 2011 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Air Force Airman Tyler M. Olsen graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Petra Olsen of Estate Carlton, Frederiksted, Virgin Islands, and Glenn Olsen of Coral Princess Condo, Christiansted, V.I..
Olsen graduated in 2009 from The Manor School, Christiansted.

Jan. 3, 2011 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Edwardo Carino Jr. graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Estherlyn Carino of Mount Pleasant and Edwardo Carino Sr. of Whim, both of Fredriksted, Virgin Islands.
Army Spec. Eric A. Ramirez/St. Croix
Jan. 3, 2011 (Joint Hometown News Service)- Army Spec. Eric A. Ramirez has graduated from the Direct Fire Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training.
During the nine weeks of Basic Combat Training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid as well as Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
The Advanced Individual Training course is designed to train indirect fire infantry soldiers to employ, fire and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines; locate, neutralize and extract mines; map reading and ground navigation; operate and maintain communications equipment and radio networks; construct and camouflage mortar firing positions; operate and maintain mortars and fire control equipment for individual/crew served weapons firing positions.
Ramirez is the son of Brunilda Ramirez of Carlton Gardens, Frederiksted, U.S. Virgin Islands.
He is a 1992 graduate of Central High School, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

Jan. 7, 2011 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Air Force Reserve Airman Dalia D. Theodule graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
She is the daughter of Taverlyn Mills of Mutual Homes Blvd, Frederiksted, Virgin Islands, and sister of Daisy Williams of N.W. 56th Ave., Lauderhill, Fla.
Theodule graduated in 2007 from St. Croix Educational Complex, Frederiksted.

Jan. 7, 2011 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Kareema N. Huggins graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

She is the daughter of Bernadette Huggins of Kingshill, Virgin Islands.
Huggins graduated in 2006 from Free Will Baptist High School, Christiansted, Virgin Islands, and received a bachelor’s degree in 2010 from the University of The Virgin Islands, Christiansted.
Army Pfc. Luke B. Berkitt/St. Croix
Jan. 7, 2011 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army Pfc. Luke B. Berkitt has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills, battlefield operations and tactics, and the experience of using various weapons and weapon defenses available to the infantry crewman.
He is the brother of Ray Berkitt of Specter Lane, Warner Robins, Ga., and son of Ann Berkitt of Mount Pleasant, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Berkitt graduated in 2007 from the St. Croix Educational Complex.
Army National Guard Pvt. Garfield K. Ferdinand/St. Croix
Jan. 12, 2011 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army National Guard Pvt. Garfield K. Ferdinand has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
He is the son of Francis Ferdinand of Lagrande Princesse, Kingshill, Virgin Islands.
