Brief: Contractor Causes Phone Outage in Charlotte Amalie

A private contractor accidentally cut an Innovative phone and data cable, leaving many Innovative business telephone customers in Charlotte Amalie without service Thursday, according to Innovative officials.

“While performing soil testing, a contractor accidentally drilled through a 400-pair cable on Back Street,” said Innovative official Terry Falls, in a statement.

As a result, about 50 businesses are without phone service, and customers who have data services may also be affected, he said.

According to Innovative, technicians are on site repairing the cable and will continue to work until all customers are fully restored to working order.

Customers who need cable TV or phone repairs should call Innovative’s repair centers from a landline by dialing 912 or by cell at (340) 778-1742.

Innovative officials are asking customers to please have the telephone number, account number, address, description of problem and brief directions ready. For Innovative PowerNet, customers should call (340) 714-3700.
