The Commissioner of the Department of Public Works, Darryl A. Smalls alerts the motoring public that a portion of Queen Mary Highway (Route 70) in Estate Herman Hill on St. Croix is scheduled to be reconstructed beginning Jan. 3, 2011. The scheduled work will include areas from the west end of the Christiansted Bypass at Contentment (Route 66E) and Route 70 to the intersection of Orange Grove Road (Route 703) and Route 70. The motoring public should avoid this area for the next week while construction is in progress between the hours of 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. All traffic traveling westbound will be detoured through North Side Road (Route 75) to the Golden Rock Intersection Route 703 and Route 75. All motorists heading eastbound on Route 70 to Christiansted will similarly be detoured through Route 75 via Orange Grove Route 703.
