Police on St. Thomas arrested a man for burglary Monday and discovered he was also wanted by Miami-Dade County police.
Mario C. Vanterpool, 33, was arrested around 1:50 p.m. Monday and charged with third-degree burglary when surveillance cameras showed him breaking into a Fort Mylner nightclub, stealing a television and personal documents, police said.
A routine check of the National Crime Information Center revealed that a warrant had been issued for his arrest by the Miami-Dade County Police Department in Florida. Officers there charged Vanterpool with possession of dangerous drugs, tampering with physical evidence and fleeing to elude police.
Police said Vanterpool’s extradition is pending.
Bail for Vanterpool was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
