Police Confiscate Seven Pounds of Marijuana

A routine traffic stop Wednesday turned out to be anything but routine as police on St. Croix confiscated seven pounds of marijuana and arrested one man.

Lucier Williams, age 45, of Estate St. John, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Police stopped the vehicle Williams was driving because he ran a stop sign in the Gallows Bay area. Police said they noticed that Williams was acting in a nervous manner and asked if he had anything illegal in his vehicle.

Williams responded that he had a little bit of marijuana and was detained by police.

While conducting a search of the vehicle police discovered more than a little marijuana, about seven pounds’ worth, in the rear of the car. Williams was placed under arrest at about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Bail for Williams was set at $10,000 and he was remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility.
