Shortly after this year’s Junior Calypsonian is crowned and Crucian Christmas Festival is over, instead of awaiting next festival, young Virgin Islanders can sing and strut upon the stage at a new V.I. Agrifest Calypso Competition in February.
The Agriculture and Food Fair of the Virgin Islands is inviting musically minded youths age 16 and under to participate in its first Agrifest Calypso Competition. Each contestant will perform one original agriculturally inspired song.
The competition will take place on the V.I. Agriculture Department’s fairgrounds on Feb. 20. Prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants. Applications are available at Agriculture offices on St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John. The application deadline is Dec. 31.
