Woman, 19, Charged with Snatching Purse

Police on St. Thomas arrested 19-year-old Jenniya Toussant at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday and charged her with possession of stolen property for snatching a woman’s purse containing lottery tickets and cash.

According to the police report Toussant, a resident of Estate Bovoni, snatched the handbag of a 47-year-old woman as she was walking on Donnigans Gade. The handbag contained 24 lottery tickets, a prize validation sheet and about $32 in cash. Police continue to investigate this matter.

Bail for Toussant was set at $25,000 and she was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further action.
