Love City Presents a Week of Reggae Events on St. John

Love City presents Third World, legendary reggae greats, who will kick off their global tour and launch their new album “Patriots” at a Jan. 29, 2011, blow-out concert on St. John. The concert will be the end of a full-fledged, week-long reggae party called Love City Live!

The week of Jan. 21-28 will be filled with events all across St. John to bring in the big Jan. 29 concert, which will also feature Love City’s own Inner Visions as well as Melame Gange and The Blackstar Band.
On Friday, Jan. 21, there will be a Jackpot and Stilettos party at The Parrot Club.
On Saturday night, Jan. 22, there will be an Ole Time Fish Fry at Cases by the Sea in Coral Bay.
On Sunday, Jan. 23, stop by Oppenheimer, where St. John Brewers, Love City Live’s sponsor, will host a beach party.
On Thursday, Jan. 27, there will be a Beer Vibes party at The Tap Room.
On Friday, Jan. 28, there will be a Euphoria art walk and cocktail party at Mongoose Junction.
On Saturday, Jan. 29, the big reggae concert will begin at 8 p.m. at Winston Wells Ball Field.
On Sunday, Jan. 30, the week’s festivities will end with a Hangover Brunch at Miss Lucy’s Restaurant.
When the idea was conceived for the reggae blow-out festival, the promoter knew he wanted to host more than a one-night concert. “I wanted it first of all to be inclusive to both sides of the island,” he said. “That’s why we’re having parties all over St. John. And I wanted people to come down for a week and have plenty to do.”
He also wanted the party to be a distinctly St. John affair. However, while Love City Live is a St. John event, “we are inviting our neighbors to the party. A special round-trip ferry service will run from Roadtown, Tortola to Cruz Bay [on] Jan. 29, and we are expecting a lot of reggae fans from St. Thomas to join in the fun too,” the promoter said
