St. Croix Teen Killed by Gunfire

Gunfire took the life Sunday of 19-year-old Kendall Woods and left injured an 18-year-old male who was shot in his upper right arm and leg and remains in stable condition, the V.I. Police Department reported.

It was the 60th homicide in the territory since the first of the year.

According to police, St. Croix officers responded to a call of shots fired at about 6:47 p.m. Sunday near the D. Hamilton Jackson Park in the vicinity of the bar in Estate Grove Place. When police arrived, they found the unresponsive victim, later identified as Woods, with multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

Emergency medical technicians on the scene said he had no vital signs. He was later transported to the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and pronounced dead.

The case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police urge anyone who has information concerning this homicide to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 712-6077, 712-6033 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
