Woman Burned During Domestic Assault

Stiarn G. Titre, 22, was arrested around 9 a.m. Thursday and charged with second-degree assault/domestic violence for allegedly assaulting a woman he was having a relationship with. The incident occurred at the couples’ Estate Bovoni residence.

According to the initial police report, Titre and the 38-year-old victim were having an argument and Titre threw a pot of boiling water on her, causing severe burns. When the victim tried to leave Titre punched her and threatened her.

The assault caused first and second degree burns on the victim’s right hip and bruises and scrapes on her right arm back. She was taken to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Bail was denied due to the domestic violence charge and Titre was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further action.

In a stateent released Saturday, Police Commissioner Novelle E. Francis Jr. reminded the community that domestic violence is unacceptable and dangerous. Anyone in an abusive relationship can get help or get out by caling the Women’s Coalition on St. Croix at 772-9272, the Family Resource Center on St. Thomas at 776-3966 or the Safety Zone on St. John 690-7233.
