Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen today saluted all Virgin Islands veterans as they prepare to celebrate Veterans Day, tomorrow on November 11th. “We cannot say enough about your bravery, your courage and your dedication and commitment to our territory and to the nation,” said Congresswoman Christensen who is out of the territory this Veterans Day, but who welcomed Virgin Islands National Guardsmen who returned to the territory recently.
“During the last decade we have been reminded of the cost of freedom,” said Congresswoman Christensen. “We pay for it with the lives of our young men and women, with the sacrifice of family and dear friends, and with the eternal gratitude of those of us who are the beneficiaries of their sacrifice.”
Congresswoman Christensen returned to Washington, DC this week to participate in the deliberations of the lame duck Congress and in leadership elections for the 112th Congress. She is also attending the Fourth National Health Disparity Conference on “Reducing Health Disparities through Strengthening and Sustaining Healthy Communities,” in Philadelphia this weekend.
The Offices of the Delegate to Congress will be closed on Thursday, November 11, 2010 in observance of Veterans Day.
