Four Arrested for Gun Possession, One More Being Sought

Four teenagers were arrested, a fifth suspect is being sought, and a firearm was seized after police received reports of shots being fired Monday.
According to the initial police report, 911 operators dispatched officers to Estate Mandahl to a report of shots being fired from a dark-colored Toyota SUV traveling in the area. Police intercepted the vehicle on Maude Proudfoot Drive near Pilgrims Terrace, and one suspect, who remains at large, fled the area on foot when police stopped the vehicle. Police inspected the vehicle and discovered a .25 caliber handgun under the front passenger seat.
Arrested were Jibri Roberts, 18, of Bonne Esperance; Treson I. Stephens, 19, of Hospital Ground; and 18-year-old Shemelle Issac of H.H. Bergs Home. Police said a 17-year-old minor was also arrested and released into his parents’ custody.
Roberts, Stephens and Issac were charged with constructive possession of a firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm with an obliterated serial number, reckless endangerment and misprision of a felony. Bail for the three was set at $50,000 each, and they were remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
The case is being followed up by the Major Crimes Bureau. Police urge anyone having information about this crime to contact detectives at 715-5545, 715-5534, or call the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
