All-Points Bulletin Issued for Stabbing Suspect

Police on St. Croix have issued an all-points bulletin for Winston Veira, wanted for questioning related to the multiple stabbing of a 28-year-old woman.
According to the preliminary police report, about 12:45 a.m. Thursday police were dispatched to the Harbor View Apartments to investigate a female walking in the area wearing bloody clothes.
When police arrived, the victim was lying on the sidewalk. She told police that Veira, her ex-boyfriend, had assaulted her.
According to the report, sometime before 12:30 a.m. Veira entered the victim’s apartment while she was sleeping, beat her about the body with a glass bottle and then stabbed her with a knife several times in the left side of her face, her abdomen, left breast and left thigh.
The victim was transported to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment. Police and Domestic Violence detectives were able to briefly speak with the victim while she was being attended to.
A knife, which will undergo forensic testing to determine if it is the weapon used in the assault, was found at the scene along with a roll of duct tape.
Police are seeking the community’s assistance in locating Veira, a 53- or 54-year-old with a light complexion and short hair. He has a slim build and frequents Christiansted town, according information given to police.
The Domestic Violence Unit is following up on this case.
