Burglar Hits Elections Office

Police on St. Thomas are investigating a burglary that took place this weekend at the Board of Elections Office on Crystal Gade.

Elections employees who entered the office at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday noticed there had been a break in and notified police.

Police investigation revealed that one or more suspects gained entry to the office through a window. Elections Supervisor John Abramson said it appeared about $57 in cash was missing from the office. However nothing else seemed to be missing or disturbed.

VIPD Forensic technicians and other officers processed the scene and the Criminal Investigation Bureau will follow up on the case. Police urge anyone who knows about this burglary to contact detectives at 715-5522, 714-9834, or call Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
