Brief: Corrections Officer Arrested for Drug Possession

Bail for Corrections Officer Julian Lettsome was set at $1,000.Bureau of Corrections Officer Julian Lettsome was arrested on St. Thomas Tuesday by V.I. Police and charged with one count of simple possession of a controlled substance, according to the V.I. Department of Justice.
During a routine inspection Tuesday acfternoon at the Alexander A. Farrelly Criminal Justice Complex, Lettsome and a detainee were seen together inside the officer control station, an area restricted to security personnel. According to the Justice Department report, Lettsome and the detainee appeared to be engaged in suspicious activity.
Upon questioning, Lettsome abandoned his post and refused to return to his assigned position until relief personnel could arrive. Lettsome then attempted to leave the facility against the direct order of his supervisor.
V.I. Police were called to assist in Lettsome’s apprehension and were able to detain him on the ground floor of the complex. A bottle of alcohol and a substance that appeared to be marijuana were found in Lettsome’s possession.
Bail was set at $1,000.
