Wednesday Shooting Victim Identified by Police

The victim of a Wednesday night homicide has been identified by St. Croix police as 50-year-old Kenneth "Basa" Peters.

Peters’ body was discovered at about 11:30 p.m. by officers responding to a call of shots fired in the Estate Mars Hill area. According to the report, he was found on the north side of Queen Mary Highway near the hardware store.

Emergency medical technicians on the scene found no signs of life. The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.

It was the 24th homicide on St. Croix since the first of the year, the 52nd in the territory in that time.

Detectives continue to investigate this shooting. Police are urging anyone who has information about this murder to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 712-6077, 712-6037, the Major Crime Bureau at 712-6075, 712-6035 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
