Two Arrested for Stealing Copper Wire

Police on St. Croix arrested 32-year-old Omar Rodriguez of Estate Profit Hill and 33-year-old Fernando Santiago of Estate Williams Delight and charged them with grand larceny for stealing heavy-duty copper wire.
Police were dispatched to a home in Estate White Bay in Frederiksted, where residents said two unknown people were taking heavy-duty copper wire from a neighborhood home and placing it into the trunk of their car.
The suspects told police they had permission to take the wire, but police contacted the owner who denied giving permission for anyone to take it.
The arrest was observed by a helicopter assisting police by performing aerial surveillance.
Both suspects were held on $35,000 bail and remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility.
