Education Advises Public of Federal Hotline to Report Misuse of Funds

The general public has a responsibility to report misuse of federal education funding to the Federal Education Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or the U.S. Department of the Interior, according to a press release from Education Commissioner Dr. La Verne Terry.
“In an effort to continue meeting the mandates of the Compliance Agreement between the U.S. Department of Education and the V.I. Government, the Department of Education is required to publicize the toll free telephone numbers to facilitate the reporting of misuse of federal education monies,” said the commissioner. “The toll-free numbers are available to all schools, teachers, parents, and participants of the adult and vocational education programs, VIDE employees, all government agencies and other interested stakeholders.” The numbers are as follows:
Federal Education Office of the Inspector General (OIG):1-800-MISUSED
U.S. Department of Interior: 1-800-424-5081
