VI SHIP Holds Medicare Symposium 2010 on Sept. 22-24

The Virgin Islands State Health Insurance Program (SHIP), in conjunction with the Office of the Lieutenant Governor and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) New York Regional Office, will be holding its third annual V.I. Medicare Symposium on Sept. 22 – 24 at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa on St. Thomas.

VI SHIP Director/Medicare Coordinator Rena Sarauw said the symposium, themed “Serving Our Beneficiaries Together,” will offer providers, partners, stakeholders and advocates of Medicare pertinent information. Sessions will range from updates to Medicare, Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, reimbursement, billings and claim processing, as well as the recently enacted healthcare reform legislation and its effect on Medicare. Jaime Torres, regional director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), will be a guest speaker. Representatives from CMS and DHHS will also be in attendance as presenters and to answer questions.
Sarauw is especially encouraging providers and those working in the medical profession that specifically deal with Medicare claims and the reimbursement process to register for the free event. Persons or organizations interested in registering for the symposium should contact the VI SHIP Office at 772-7368 for a registration form or more information. Interested persons can also e-mail rena.sarauw@lgo-vi.gov or kfestermacher@provider-resources.com.
