Brief: VIPD Offers Reward for Capture of Murder Suspect

Police on St. Croix have issued a reward for information leading to the arrest of 30-year-old Edwin Encarnacion, who is wanted in connection with the murder of 45-year-old Jorge Parilla.
The murder and subsequent arson of Parilla’s residence occurred on Aug. 14. Parilla’s body was found in the ruins of his burned house. Police have been searching for Encarnacion since then.
Police have received and followed numerous leads from residents, who have sighted Encarnacion and are certain that the suspect is being assisted by friends and family members.
Anyone found to be harboring Encarnacion will face criminal charges, police say.
Police Commissioner Novelle E. Francis Jr. on Thursday issued a $2,500 reward for information leading to the capture of Encarnacion.
He asked anyone with information on Encarnacion’s whereabouts to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 712-6077, 712-6037 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
All calls will be held in the strictest confidence, the police said.
