DOL St. Thomas Office Closed Due to Hurricane, Temporary Office Opens Sept. 3

Commissioner of Labor Albert Bryan Jr., regrets to inform the general public that due to the effects of Hurricane Earl, the St. Thomas office located at 53A, 54AB Kronprindsens Gade is only open for limited services. Electrical power at this site has been temporarily interrupted because two essential electrical poles were downed during the storm; new poles will have to be replanted before power can be restored.

While the Water and Power Authority works to restore electricity to this area, in the interim, basic services will be provided for St. Thomas and St. John customers via temporary offices in the Department of Labor parking lot on St. Thomas beginning from 7:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 2. Full services will be available as soon as power is restored.
In addition, the workshops entitled “Hire Locals,” as originally scheduled for Sept. 1 at the Cardiac Center on St. Croix and Sept. 3 at the Palms Court Harbourview on St. Thomas, have been postponed until later this month. The new dates will be broadcast once confirmed.
DOL apologizes for any inconvenience experienced by residents due to this temporary power outage and appreciates the continued patience and cooperation of the community as we work together in the aftermath of Hurricane Earl to restore services and return to normalcy.
