WAPA Schedules Water Service Interruptions for Aug. 13 on Part of Queen Mary Highway

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority advises its St. Croix water customers located on Queen Mary Highway between Wendy’s Restaurant and Estate Barren Spot that there will be a service interruption from 8-11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 13. Technicians will be working to retire the old 10-inch ductile iron water line along the Bennie Benjamin Road, which leads to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. Affected areas include Estates Diamond Ruby, Strawberry and Barren Spot and the Sunny Acres community.

The iron water line has been replaced with 3000 linear feet of 10-inch PVC water line. This project, at a cost of $388,562, has been funded, in part, through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
Motorists are asked to reduce speed and to obey all traffic directions while approaching the intersection of Queen Mary Highway and Route 79 in the vicinity of the WAPA business office at Sunny Isle.
WAPA apologizes for any inconvenience that may occur as a result of this service improvement effort and will restore water service as soon as possible.
