Donald W. Barshinger Dies at 80

Donald W. Barshinger, 80, died suddenly on Aug. 1, at his home in Malvern, Pennsylvania. He is the father of Virgin Islands Senator-At-Large Craig W. Barshinger.
Born in 1930 in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Donald was the son of the late Pearl Angelina (née Harvison) and Samuel L. Barshinger.
He attended Franklin and Marshall College on a swimming scholarship. He graduated in 1953 and went on to earn his MBA from San Jose State, California. He worked in sales, marketing and management over the years.
Donald enjoyed golf, bike-riding and travel. He visited the Virgin Islands regularly over the decades where he enjoyed sight-seeing and swimming in the Virgin Islands’ beautiful turquoise waters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Linda M. Gordon and his son, Sen. Craig Wayne Barshinger. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Barshinger (Nancy) of Stevens, Penn. and his nieces and nephews: Kerry Barshinger, Karen Barshinger, Lynn Holmes and Andrew Barshinger.
Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the United Church of Christ, 1201 N. Chester Road, West Chester PA 19380, where friends may call after 10 a.m. in church.
