Police Arrest One for Unlicensed Firearm, One for Domestic Violence

Two St. Thomas residents were arrested by police Tuesday in a pair of separate cases.

Kayran A. Thomas, 34, was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm with an obliterated serial number and 30-year-old Emile Lake was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery, domestic violence.

Kayran ThomasAccording to police, at about 10:21 a.m. Tuesday Thomas, who lives in Estate Nadir, was seen arguing with a woman and several minors in Sugar Estate. Thomas left the area and returned a short while later. Police who were on the scene confiscated a 9 mm unlicensed firearm and a loaded magazine from Thomas.

At around 1:40 p.m. on the same Emile Lakeday, Lake was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery, domestic violence. According to the police report, Lake was in the Tutu Hi Rise housing community when he violated his court issued restraining order by assaulting his ex-girlfriend, who received minor injuries.

Bail for Thomas was set at $35,000 and bail was denied for Lake because of the Domestic Violence charge. Both suspects were remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
