Auckland Merchant Dead at 71

Auckland Merchant Auckland Merchant of Williams Delight died on Thursday, April 22. He was 71 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine "Jean" Merchant; daughter, Andrea Merchant; son, Roderick Merchant; grandchildren: Kenyatta, Shavonne, Ashley and Roderick Jr. Merchant; adopted granddaughters: Shawnoiya and Xhane Kirby; sisters: Icilma Kent, Yvonne Bryan and Angela Mason; and brother, Leroy Merchant. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Elaine Merchant; brothers-in-law: Edgar Bryan, Stedroy Kent, Tyrone Mason and Bertram Henderickson; great aunt, Helen Carlie; nieces: Icilma, Esther, Cynthia, Althea, Yolanda, Daina, Edith, Ann-Marie, Yvette, Yvonne, Shanelle, Loretta Jarvis, Hyacinth Pell, Carolyn Brown, Vanya Clarke, Shera and Shanella; niece-in-law, Myrthlyn B. Francis; nephews: Augustin, George, Prince Simon, Bently, Milton, Eric, Francis, Charles, Lionel, Eric Strunkey, Oscar, Asim, Bernard, T-rone, Jameel, Kevin and Jaedon; great nieces: Shakiema, Shameen, Adosha, Anysha, Shera, Cynthia, Shantel, Nicole, Edith, Missy, Lil Shakeima, J’hakiema, Jacquana, Cherene, Nyijanay, Erica and Areali; great nephews: Augustin Jr., Andy, Alex, Daniel, Dave, Kashawn, Kareem, Kevin, Marlon, Keshawn, Kadeem, Bently Jr., Akemoi and Isaiah; and cousins: Fernella Campbell and Celestine Carr. Other survivors include close relatives and friends: James Simmonds, Teresita Fleming, Veronica Huggins, Bernadette James, Meridith Philgence and family, Eugene Tyson and family, Marylee Audain and family, Margaret Southwell and family, Anabel Williams and family, Glenroy Bright and family, Thomas Williams, Lumus Jn. Baptiste, Egbert Tonge and family, Waldina Scotland and family, Peter Strawn and family, Teddy Prentice and Virginia Durant and family, Bruno Bikar and family; tenents of Mr. Merchant in William’s Delight; Bethel and Faith Seventh-day Adventist Church families; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 9, at the Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
