Robinson Announces Call to Action Against Violence in the Territory

In response to the escalating violence in the Virgin Islands, columnist and community activist Professor Devin "Dutchie" Robinson has announced a “call to action” to community leaders, politicians, educators, pastors, parents and all other concerned citizens to stand with him as he leads hundreds of participants on a peace walk through the island of St. Thomas. This is the second installation of many peace walks he has organized in the territory.

St. Thomas native Devin Robinson, who is now a professor in Atlanta, Georgia, and a best-selling author, continues to be very active in his native islands. He said, "Historically, all public movements and positive change in our communities were orchestrated by the people, not government or corporations… the cost of waiting is too expensive!" He will arrive in the territory on Thursday when he is scheduled to appear on the TV Show “Grafitti Street,” and on Friday, he will make appearances on different media outlets promoting this cause. A number of sponsors have already committed to support Going Against the Grain peace coalition activities. The walk will start at the University of the Virgin Islands and end at Emancipation Garden on Saturday, April 10. It will begin at 7:30 a.m. and has a theme of "From Education to Emancipation." This event is free and open to the public.
