Brief: Suspect In Custody for Firing Shots Near Playground

St. Croix police were dispatched to a report of shots being fired at the Harbor View Apartments at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Several concerned citizens told police a suspect was shooting in the area of the playground, and children were seen running from the area.
Based on descriptions of the suspect from several witnesses, police searched the surrounding area and found a man fitting the description walking in the area north of the John F. Kennedy housing community.
Police questioned the person, later identified as 21-year-old Jose Alfonso Murray of no fixed address, and found he had a firearm in his possession.
Police confiscated the firearm and arrested Murray. Bail was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.
