The late Margaret Wiesner, widow of Frank Wiesner, founder of Frank Wiesner and Company on St. Croix. She was a former nurse, business woman, community activist and CEO of Wiesner Development Company. The Wiesner Scholarship Fund has awarded $33,500 to the University of the Virgin Islands during the 2009-2010 academic year. Two scholarships, which are intended to be used for educational expenses, were established: the Margaret Wiesner Scholarship and the Erick Erschen Scholarship. High school seniors from St. Croix who are enrolling full-time at UVI are eligible for consideration. The Margaret Wiesner Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to two first-time freshmen enrolling in the institution’s School of Nursing with an annual award of $2,125. The Erick Erschen Scholarship will also provide financial assistance to two freshmen enrolling in the School of Business with an annual award of $2,125.

The late Erick Erschen was the company’s business director, developer and CEO after the passing of Margaret Wiesner. A stipulation of the scholarship award is maintenance of a 3.0 grade point average, registering for a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester, and the performance of 40 hours of UVI-related community service in conjunction with the UVI Office of Institutional Advancement.
