Governor John P. de Jongh Jr. has proclaimed the week of March 14-20 as Virgin Islands Energy Education Week. During this week, the governor encourages all Virgin Islanders to consider ways to better conserve precious energy resources more responsibly and efficiently throughout the year.
On this 30th year of commemorating Energy Education Week in the territory, we engage in special events and activities that promote energy efficiency awareness and education. In recent years, technological innovations in the development of new energy sources have been made or are on the horizon, making this week’s anniversary especially significant.
Gov. de Jongh calls upon the Virgin Islands community, including other government agencies, churches, schools, civic and community organizations, as well as the people of the territory, to join in practicing efficient energy use all year long, including during scheduled activities this week.
