Bob Owens Softball Wraps Up Regular Season

Alejandro Rivera of the Warriors snags a hot shot at third on the front end of a double-play.The Bob Owens Slow Pitch Softball League wrapped up its regular season at the D.C. Canegata Ball Park with Wyatt Heat, the National Guard Hummers, and Softball Inc all finishing their 2009-2010 campaigns on a winning note.

Thursday The Heat burned Anchor Dive 10-7, The Hummers were 11-6 victors over the Warriors, and Softball Inc outslugged Speak the Word Ministries 23-20.

Heat 10, Anchor Dive 7
In game one Thursday night, Wyatt Heat got the best of Anchor Dive 10-7 in a relatively close encounter to finish their season with back to back wins. The Heat scored its 10 runs on nine hits and three errors, while Anchor Dive finished with seven runs on eight hits and two errors. Kennedy Feist got the win for the Heat while Edwin Sankitts took the loss. Top batters for the winners were Andre Ponce, 3 of 3 with a home run and two RBIs, and Feist, 2 of 3 with a home run and one RBI. For Anchor Dive, Danny Rodriguez was 1 of 2 with a home run and one RBI and Koal Snyder was 2 of 2 with one RBI.

Hummers 11, Warriors 6
The Hummers used a four-run sixth inning to break open a five-all ball game on their way to an 11-6 victory over the Warriors in game two.

The Hummers scored their 11 runs on 12 hits and four errors while the Warrior plated six runs on nine hits and two errors. Roy Vialet got the win in relief of starter Roman Cruz for the Hummers while Angel Soto got the loss for the Warriors. Top hitters for the Hummers were Kai Schjang, 4 of 4 with three RBIs, and Sylvester Blake, 3 of 4 with two RBIs. For the Warriors Fernando Quesada was 3 of 3 with one RBI and Juan Santana 2 of 3 with a home run and one RBI.

Softball Inc 23, Speak the Word 20

Regular season champions Softball Inc got a tough match from Speak the Word Ministries in Thursday’s night cap, but in the end was able win the slugfest, 23-20.

Softball Inc pounded out 20 hits to account for their 23 runs, while Speak the Word finished with 20 runs on 18 hits and three errors. Cody St. Pierre was the winning pitcher while Gabriel Jagrup got the loss. Antonio Cruz led the winners offensively, going 4 of 4 with a home run and seven RBIs, and St. Pierre was 4 of 4 with two RBIs. For the Speak the Word Sylvester McIntosh and Raphael Almonte were both 4 of 4 with a home run and two RBIs apiece.
