Peter Laurent Des Jardins Dies at 59

Peter Laurent Des Jardins

Peter Laurent Des Jardins, born April 19, 1950. His life was taken Aug. 4, at age 59.
Peter was born in West Virginia and raised in New Jersey and New Hampshire. He attended Boston University and played music all around New England before coming to St. Croix with his band, The Shawmut Minstrels, in 1977. In his 30-plus years on island he was a musician, songwriter, Avis columnist, graphic artist and a long-time employee of Hotel on the Cay.
He is survived by his children: Ruby and Nicholas, parents: Paul and Madelyn: and siblings: Arthur, Stephen and Anne. He will be dearly missed by his loving family, fiancée Tonya Swinnea and many friends, on island and off.
A celebration of his life will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, at Hotel on the Cay. Please join his family – barefoot in the sand.
At the family’s request, in lieu of sending flowers, please volunteer or send donations to local nonprofit organizations, such as St. Croix Environmental Association, St. Croix Animal Shelter, CASA, VICARE or the St. Croix Boys & Girls Club.
