Sounds like the title of a children’s novel, but actually “Who Moved the Cheese?” is a No. 1 Best Selling book by Spencer Johnson, Ph.D.on discovering how change can work to your advantage and lead you to success. The training module is based on Johnson’s concept and the Hotel & Tourism Association is offering it to the USVI community for the first time. The four-hour session will be held at 9 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort. The cost is $95 per person, which includes breakfast and training manuals.
The goal of the program is to provide tools to examine the beliefs about change, gain insight into how to deal with change and how to change the way one interacts with others. Cheese represents what you want to have in life—whether it’s a good job, a loving relationship, money or peace of mine. The lessons in the training are learned from the four characters that live in a maze where they spend their time looking for what they want. The sessions are highly interactive and fun.
“This training is for anyone who is interested in changing a certain behavior and wants the tools needed to achieve the change with success,” said Lisa Hamilton, president of the Hotel & Tourism Association. “The value of this training is so highly regarded that major companies such as the U.S. Army, U.S. Postal Service, Xerox and hotel chains like Marriott and the Ritz Carlton use it for employee enrichment.”
Valerie George, Ph.D., who will conduct the training, is the only U.S.V.I. nationally-certified Spencer Johnson Training Facilitator. George is a business and management consultant in the territory who has developed such programs as UVI-CELL’s Taxi Certification program.
