Alert: Water System in La Grande Princess to Be Rehabilitated

June 17, 2009 – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is advising water customers in the La Grande Princesse area that water service will be discontinued for system improvement on Wednesday, July 1 until further notice. Businesses and residences on the Northshore Road will not be affected.
The discontinued service has become necessary because of aging infrastructure failures that require immediate attention in order to enhance the delivery of potable water service in the LaGrande Princess area, according to a statement from the Authority. Customers are advised that during this system restoration period that they should use their cisterns as their primary water source.
Customers may direct inquiries to the Water Department at 773-7795 or 773-3775 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Authority said every possible effort will be made to complete the rehabilitation of the system as soon as possible.
