May 31, 2009 — Police are investigating a homicide that occurred at about 11:45 p.m. Friday on the Estate Profit road between the Harvey housing community and Estate Profit on St. Croix.
The victim has been identified as 41-year-old George Cintron, a native of St. Croix who lived in Estate Adventure Hill.
According to a preliminary report, police said Cintron was with friends in the area and decided to walk to the store. He was later approached by an unknown suspect or suspects and shot once in his upper body. Witnesses told police they saw a vehicle speed away from the scene.
Two suspects were detained by the detectives of the Major Crime and Criminal Investigation Bureau, but were released pending further investigation.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have been in the area to call with the color, make, model and or license plate number of the vehicle that sped away from the scene, or with any other information.
