Constitutional Discrimination

Dear Source:

It appears that some of the Constitutional Convention folks are so off target as to make the entire process silly. Where else do people get classified as born somewhere or not born somewhere?!?! Once a person becomes a citizen of a country or a state, the rights are equal and there are no classifications! Further attempts to classify at the very least implies discrimination and probably will result in actual discrimination of minority groups…the "unborn." I was born in Miami but raised in NY…my status in NY has never been questioned, neither has it been questioned since I moved to D.C. Only now, as I contemplate my retirement to the VI do I, for the first time in my life, wonder if I am good enough? Do I have the right credentials? Do these VI folks really want me? How strange! I have met so many loving Cruzans that this is hard for me to watch play out.
Let us remember that most U.S. states were originally settled by specifically defined ethnic or religious groups…but no one in any state claims special ownership of that state as some of the Conventioneers are attempting to do in the VI…very sad.
In another attempt at discrimination, there is the attempt at a gay marriage ban…why a ban? why not just leave the issue alone…to be settled by the people of the VI.
Yes, it seems that there may be plenty of discrimination to go around if and when the constitution ever happens…how very unenlightened and sad.
