May 18, 2009 — St. Croix lifeguards Anthony Stevens and Akeem Stevens resuscitated a tourist who suffered a heart attack while swimming from a boat to the beach Saturday.
The two are lifeguard at the Vincent Mason Jr. Coral Resort Pool in Frederiksted.
Their boss, Housing, Parks and Recreation Commissioner St. Claire Williams, commended the two for their quick, professional action and its lifesaving effects.
"I am thankful and proud of the efforts of Anthony and Akeem Stevens as they demonstrated the training they received to become certified lifeguards in the department," Williams said, according to a Government House statement issued Monday.
