Education Seeks Applicants to Fill Temporary Technician Positions

May 14, 2009 – The Virgin Islands Department of Education is seeking applicants to fill positions as network and computer technicians. Selected individuals will work on a temporary basis with the Office of Instructional Technology, assigned specifically as help desk and PC desktop support, and will be responsible for supporting the districts and schools in the monitoring, maintenance and support of the network, desktops, servers and telephones.
The desktop support technician is to function as an advocate inside the IT department for the end-user community. The position should maintain a high level of proficiency with desktop technologies through ongoing training.
Desired applicant credentials and experience are as follows:
1). College degree, computer-related courses or experience in the IT field desired
2). Minimum of two years experience in desktop/disk side support
3). Excellent verbal communications skills
4). Excellent customer service attitude and experience
5). Experience with configuration, support and troubleshooting of Windows 2000
6). Professional or Windows XP Professional
7). Some experience with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of PCs and switched networks.
