Virgin Islands Council for the Arts Receives two Grants

May 10, 2009 – The Virgin Islands Council for the Arts has received two grants totaling $361,600, according to a press release from Delegate to Congress Donna M Christensen.
The first grant in the amount of $50,000 is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant to state art agencies and regional art organizations. The goal of this program is to support arts projects and activities which preserve jobs in the nonprofit arts sector threatened by declines in philanthropic and other support during the current economic downturn.
The second grant in the amount of $311,600 is from the Access to Artistic Excellence II/American Masterpieces/ Arts on Radio and Television/ Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth/ Partnerships program. This grant was created to support partnership agreement activities.
