DHPR Holds Rededication Ceremony for the Alvin McBean Ballpark

May 6, 2009 – The Department of Housing, Parks and Recreation invites the public to attend the Alvin McBean Ball Park rededication ceremony, slated to take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 9, at the ballpark. It will be followed by a little league game.
Extensive repairs and enhancements have been made to the facility including renovation of the restrooms and concession building; resurfacing of the basketball, tennis and paddle ball courts; installation of energy efficient sport lights; replacement of bleachers with wheelchair accessible ramps; as well as landscaping and repairs to the fencing, according to a press release from DHPR.
"The improvements to the Alvin McBean Ball Park were long overdue, and we are indeed pleased that we were able to complete this project for the residents of the eastern end of St. Thomas," said DHPR Commissioner St. Claire N. Williams "We further encourage everyone to enjoy the facility and to assist the department in ensuring that it is well-maintained and accommodating."
