2009 Forum Film Festival Presents Three French Films
May 5, 2009 – The Forum Film Festival will present three award-winning French films beginning on Wednesday, May 13. "The Class" follows the relationship between a young, idealistic teacher and a class of tough 14-15 year-olds in a multi-ethnic Paris school. If this sounds familiar, this film transcends that cliché in a way that is compelling and exhilarating.
The second film is "I've Loved You So Long," another award winner in Europe and the United States. It is the story of a woman's release after a 15-year jail sentence for murder. She goes to live with her sister's family. With a stunning performance by English actress Kristin Scott Thomas, this is a story of healing and rebirth.
The third film is "Tell No One," which will keep you on the edge of your seat. In the shortcut language of a movie pitch, this film is Vertigo meets The Fugitive by way of The Big Sleep. This is a story of murder, mysterious disappearance, corruption, depravity in high places and plain nail-biting excitement. It has been describes as pure, nasty fun.
The films will all be screened at 7 p.m., on Wednesdays, May 13, 20 and 27, at Market Square East Cinemas. All films are with English subtitles. Tickets are $15 each, and can be purchases at Reichhold box office at 693-1559, Dockside Bookshop, Interiors in Fort Mylner and Home Again in Red Hook Plaza.
