Carnival Committee Announces Winners

May 4, 2009 — After heavy rains Monday washed away the last traces of Carnival, all that was left were memories and a new court of winners for Carnival 2009.
The V.I. Carnival Committee on Monday announced winners and the first two runners-up for the Children's Parade, Adults' Parade and Cultural Fair.
For the Children's Parade, they were as follows:
Troupe Under 50
Winner: UVI 4-H
1st Runner-up: Montessori School Presents "Mas From The Past"
2nd Runner-up: Oswald Harris Court Tenants Council Presents "O.H.C. Caribbean Dazzlers"
Floupe
Winner: Future Members of Charming Twirlers
Majorette
Winner: St. Thomas Majorettes
1st Runner-up: Sebastien Majorettes & Marching Band
Traditional
Winner: Traditional Indians
For the Adults' Parade, they were:
Troupe Under 50
Winner: The Caribbean Ritual Dancers
1st Runner-up: Waseen Dominic Association Presents "Dominica Cultural Roots"
2nd Runner-up: Diamonds & Gems Carnival Troupe
Troupe 50-100
Winner: JDPP Presents "Flex It"
1st Runner-up: UVI Carnival Troupe Presents "Let Our Energies Combine for Carnival 2009"
2nd Runner-up: Jesters Carnival Troupe Presents "Stars & Signs For All Times"
Troupe Over 100
Winner: Gypsies Carnival Troupe Presents "Gypsies Butterfly Lime for 2009"
Floupe Under 100
Winner: Elskoe & Associates Presents "Ancient Echoes"
Floupe 100-300
Winner: Hugga Bunch Carnival Troupe Presents "The Show Stoppers & The Door Knockers!!"
