Petersen Library Hosts Open House

April 22, 2009 – Athalie MacFarlane Petersen Library will host an open house sponsored by The Friends of the St. Croix Public Libraries from 3-5 p.m., Saturday, April 25. There will be a tour of this fine example of Victorian architecture, an historic building on Strand Street in Frederiksted that was built in 1803 and now houses the public library. Learn about the library when it was a private residence of the Bell family, who once added bells to the ornamental staircase to represent their children. There will also be storytelling by Wayne “Bully” Petersen and Asta Williams as well as refreshments. Adults and children are encouraged to register for a free library card.
