Environmental Association Schedules Leatherback Sea Turtle Watches

April 21, 2009 – St. Croix Environmental Association now has a schedule for leatherback sea turtle nesting watches at Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge. The first watch will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight or later, on Wednesday, May 6. The other two watches will be on Saturday, May 16 and Thursday, June 11.
There is limited space available so SEA encourages members to sign up as soon as possible. These watches involve sitting on the beach for long periods of time and walking through sand when necessary. This event is not recommended for very young children. You must be a SEA member to attend this watch. These turtle watches are provided courtesy of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
