VIWMA Holds Public Meetings on Availability of CEG Money

April 9, 2009 – The V.I. Waste Management Authority invites the public to a series of meetings to introduce its Community Enrichment Grant (CEG) program. Under this program grants, the VIWMA has designated $50,000 for each island, which are to provide opportunities for youth groups, schools, non-profit, and community and civic groups to take an active role in the improvement of the environment of the Virgin Islands by utilizing these funds for environmental improvement programs.
These projects would encourage beautification, resource recovery (including recycling and composting), litter abatement, public education, planting of trees and shrubs, clean-ups and other similar projects.
The public meetings will be held as follows:
St. Croix: 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, at VIWMA's Williams Delight Office
St. Thomas: 6 p.m., Thursday, April 16, at Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Center
St. John: 6 p.m., Friday, April 17, at Julius Sprauve School
Applications will be available at all VIWMA offices beginning on Monday, April 20, and will be accepted until Friday, May 22. Grantees will be notified of their selections by June 5.
